Thank a Soldier

I just wanted to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to all who have served our country to preserve our freedoms. Americans may never be in total agreement on the wars we fight, but we should be in total support of those that are serving. My neighbor just returned from a 15 month stint in Iraq and he told me he was grateful for the green trees and grass. Man, I love this country. So, thanks again to you all for allowing all of us to argue over the details while you do the heavy lifting. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I went to the NRA convention, and all I got was this book!

I know this picture is very small. It was uploaded from my cell phone. Anyway, that is me standing next to Grover Norquist on Friday. I am holding a signed copy of his latest work, "Leave Us Alone." It was a pleasure meeting him and he was kind enough to talk for a few minutes. We talked about bath tubs and blogs. We traded contact information and I look forward to his contributions to this little rant. All in all, a good convention. I won't be around to vote at the board meeting, but at least I got a new holster.

The False Comfort of Appeasement

President Bush took a covert jab at Senator Obama today as he spoke to the Israeli Parliament. "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along." Bush was speaking to Knesset during the 60th celebration of Israel's independence. He went on to add, "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is—the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history." The President's press secretary denied any reference to Obama, but the intent is clear. For his part, Barack punched back saying "George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the president's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel." Ahem, what about saying you would meet with Hamas and the leadership of Iran? Those count as terrorists in my book. The politics of fear? This line is gibberish! Tell the Israeli citizens about fear. They are the ones blown up by homicide bombers and rocket attacks. Instead of the politics of fear, let's call it what it is for them - living daily in fear. Middle East maps that hang in the government buildings do not show the state of Israel. That is because they plan on there not being one. Get real Barack. Your foreign policy experience amounts to being schooled in another country, where they obviously didn't teach you the history of the second World War.

The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves

It may be an election ploy, but Hillary has said she wants to "take" the BIG oil company's windfall profits to pay for the gas tax relief. Can you say Marxist? What we have here is a supply problem. We know we have the oil. We know where it is. We are being held hostage by environmental whackos that are thwarting the process to drill for more oil and build more refineries.

Let's look at this from a business standpoint. We'll say you are a brewer and purveyor of fine beer. The cost of hops is going through the roof because of world wide demand. Our farmers could grow top quality hops right here, but they might disturb the mating grounds of some groundhogs. Now said purveyor has to raise the price. The pints are so delicious that the customers keep coming. Some are cutting back, others are switching to corporate swill, but business is still good. Hey, the people just have to have it. The business owner is making insane profits. The liberal candidates promise the locals that the owner will be taxed on those profits to reduce the premium beer tax. No big deal, the owner just raises the price again to pay for it. His explanation - businesses don't really pay taxes, they just pass it on to the customer. He is so right. But, wouldn't it just be simpler if he could buy his hops from an American farm? Win- win situation you say? Ahh, but the beatings will continue until morale improves around here.

Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News!

Some mighty strange things have been happening to me lately. I have a craving for tofu, I travel to the mailbox countless times a day looking for a check, I have inquired about taking French lessons and yesterday I was caught by my wife... hugging a Maple in the side yard. She took me to the Immediate Care Center at once. After being poked, prodded and submitting blood, the doctor was stumped. Just then, a nurse overheard my wife and I talking about Operation Chaos and my consideration of voting for Hillary next week. We have a diagnosis - Clintonitis Liberalis. Well the doctor said it should clear up by next Wednesday and told my wife to keep me away from MSNBC and tie dyed products until then.

I am no fan of HRC, but I am intrigued by the idea of keeping the madness going a little longer. That, and the idea of Obama in the White House makes me ill. So, what do you think? Should I participate in Operation Chaos, or vote for Huckabee? What do you plan to do Tuesday? Best response wins a tofu sandwich!

The Lone Danger

Jimmy Carter just can't find a way to create a legacy for himself. Instead of laying a wreath at the tomb of Yassir Arafat on April 15, he should stick to Habitat for Humanity. Why does Carter think he is the great peace maker? His one accomplishment while in office was to bring together Egypt and Israel for peace talks. All the while, Iran captured American hostages and restored the Ayatollahs to power. It took a Reagan inauguration for Iran to free the hostages.

Now he cozies up to every terrorist group from Chavez to Hamas. No wonder Israel would not meet with him during his recent trip to the Middle East. Even the Secretary of State asked him not to meet with the terrorist group. He legitimized Hamas as a government, instantly trashing decades of isolationism by the rest of the civilized world.

Now for the kicker - the Carter Center for legitimizing terrorists has received over $19 million in the past few years of tax payer money. There have been calls by some in Congress to revoke his passport. I say call your congressman and pressure them to cut off funding. The worst president ever just keeps getting worse.

The Old Bait and Switch

Today could decide the Left's nominee if Senator Clinton loses in Pennsylvania. Let me take a stab at what an Obama presidency looks like. It is becoming more clear as the campaign goes on that BHO is a made man, a stuffed suit. He admits himself that he is "a pretty good politician." Obama's relationships with some shady characters have tarnished the golden boy image and the tough questioning in the last debate has just plain ticked him off. He is BHO, the chosen one. No one is allowed to ask him the tough questions. Questions like: Why do you associate with Bill Ayers, member of Weather Underground? He is an admitted terrorist whose group is responsible for bombing the NYC police department and the Pentagon. He is unrepentant and has said that the only thing he regrets is that he could not do more! Obama's answer: I was 8 years old when that happened. He lives in my hood. He is a great English professor. And a terrorist whose house you used to kick off your political career. Next question: Why did you not leave the church that taught so much hate and racism? Answer: Rev. Wright is like a crazy uncle. I cannot disown him anymore than I can disown my white grandmother - a typical racist white person. Last Question: Are you an elitist? No Way! Just because I called the average American bitter, just because I said they cling to their guns and their god, they hate immigrants and long for the factory to magically reappear. I am not an elitist. My mom was on food stamps, ya know. I got street cred. Yeah, I went to Ivy League schools. I was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. I am not an elitist.

One of these comes up and I can see a simple mistake here. Add them all up and we have trouble. BHO, while in the Illinois senate, voted against 14th amendment rights for babies that survive an abortion. He chose instead to have the doctor place them on a shelf in the utility room until they die on their own. He chose to vote against a bill, that later became law, that gave a citizen the right to self defense in their own home. This man is out of touch with middle America. I am joining operation chaos. I am seriously considering casting my vote for Hillary in the primary. They both scare me, but BHO is America's worst case scenario. He says the right things, makes the sales pitch, then whammo, the old bait and switch.
