Who Hopes the President Will Fail?

Are you thinking Rush? How about the man making a fuss about him, James Carville? That's right. On the morning of September 11, 2001, moments before the first plane hit in New York, that sentiment was uttered by Mr. Carville. Carville and Democrat insider Stanley Greenburg were having breakfast with reporters when Carville stated "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed." He was speaking of President Bush. How is this different from what Rush Limbaugh has stated? Rush went further to explain the reason he wants Obama to fail: If he succeeds, that means the U.S. will turn more towards socialism.

James Carville's tuned changed in an instant when news of the terrorist attacks reached them. "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!" But, it only changed things temporarily. The liberals went after Bush on every move, every piece of information regarding the war. According to a 2006 Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll, 51 percent of Democrats wanted Bush to fail. For the record, I want Obama's policies to fail. They should, for they have never succeeded in the past. As for Carville, he is the typical lefty attack dog...and a hypocrite.

James Carville is a mean spirited blustering fool. Rush Limbaugh is a mean spirited blustering fool but, according to this logic, his mean spiritedness and bluster is fine because James Carville was mean spirited and blustered on and on about George W. Bush. The logic of this argument eludes me.

Also, as an aside, I was a person totally opposed to the war in Iraq. It was, in regards to most prevailing theories about a just war, an unjust war on our part, a unilateral invasion of a sovereign nation. While the world is a better place sans Saddam Hussein, there are other brutal dictators we are not attacking and it is not, and never has been, the policy of the United States to invade countries because they had an evil dictator. I believed and still believe our invasion of Iraq was wrong.

I also believed and still believe, that it was actually a diversion on the war on terror. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and, to me, eliminating the treat of terrorism is still important; and Iraq was not the country to invade.

Did I want George Bush to fail? I cannot fathom anyone wanting an American President to fail. Bush's failure would have meant that thousands of American soldiers would die in a losing effort, and 10's of thousands would be grievously wounded for nothing. To believe that an American President is wrong about the direction he or she is taking a nation is one thing. To vigorously oppose that person and be part of the loyal opposition is a right and a responsibility that, frankly, Democrats did not carry out in regards to the Iraq war. But to want the person to fail is a travesty, no matter who it is.

If James Carville said that shame, shame, shame on him. He disgraced his nation. And Rush has disgraced his nation as well. He crossed the line by saying he 'wants' Obama to fail as opposed to saying he 'believes' Obama will fail. Shame on him. This kind of adolescent behavior is shameful. In fairness to your final comments, I presume you believe the policies of the current President will fail more than you want to see the country further devastated by economic ruin.

John, Carville's comments were before the Iraq war and the attacks of September 11. He wasn't saying he wanted him to fail in the Middle East, he was saying he wanted him to fail period. I do believe his policies will fail because they remove the drive and ambition from many Americans. Notice I said that I want his policies to fail, not him. If his policies succeed, we will move dramatically to the left and socialism. I don't believe that is good for our nation.

At times, both of these men are morons. My larger point was eluding to the media's over the top reporting of a middle school type spat...all in the middle of the biggest financial crisis in decades.

IF Obama had some policies that would, indeed move this nation FORWARD (and by that, I don't mean further into indebtedness to other nations and overblown governmental spending), I would sure want THAT to succeed.

As it stands NOW, with Pelosi and Reid as Barry's "handlers", porking up the agenda with "stimuli" which won't matter as much to US as it will to our CHILDREN (and their children), I want to see some "failure" for sureg

Anything that subverts true AMERICAN values for socialist programs HAS to fail, if this nation is to survive in the manner in which it was created by the foundinf fathers.

But that's just *my* opinion.
